Salon Laser Hair Removal versus Tria
The primary difference I have found so far is the size of the treatment head. The tria has a very small treatment head (maybe a 1/4 inch circle). This is fine for small areas, but a bit tedious for larger areas. I have been getting laser hair removal at medical spas for years and I am familiar with the technology behind tria. It is a pulsed diode laser (superior to pulsed light i.e. "silk-n"). It does work for hair removal on pale skin and black (or near black) hair. If your hair is not black, it won't work as well. If your skin is not pale, it won't work as well and will be more painful. Dark melanin absorbs near-infrared radiation from the laser and creates heat. This is how Tria works. It flashes near-infrared radiation into your skin, the black hairs absorb the light and heat up, frying the follicle. A rash-type effect means the laser is working (but not everyone experiences the bumps). Little red bumps that form immediately after zapping is normal and they should subside within a...
The answer for girls with embarassing hair
I've been using the Tria for almost a year now, and it's exceeded my expectations. I have polycystic ovaries, and, therefore, dark hair where girls aren't 'supposed to.' I shave my face, chest and arms every day. This used to be completely traumatic- painful and time-consuming. I still shave after a year of use, but the hair is so greatly reduced that it's no longer a huge deal. So am I lasering the same hairs, or new hairs- is the Tria killing hairs or just weakening them? I don't know, and frankly, I don't really care. I used the laser a few times per week for the first 3 or 4 months- I have so many areas to manage, I would just use it as I watched TV. I have used it on my face once per week for 11 months. My use on the rest of my body got more infrequent as time went on, but there's a huge reduction in hair on all areas mentioned- 80-90%, I would say. If you don't have 'problem hair'- you just don't ever feel like shaving your legs again- and you're...
Good product
I purchased this system in Feb 2010 and did not want to write a review until I had thoroughly used it. The purpose for which I purchased it was to remove hair in the bikini line and underarm area. I have been faithfully using it every 2 weeks from Feb 2010 until the end of Nov 2010. The instructions for the machine tell you to use it every 2 weeks for the first 3 months and only once a month afteward up to 8 months for maximum results. I wanted to be sure that I got the best results so I used it every 2 weeks the whole 9 months. I have to say that I am impressed with the product overall. I am a prime candidate for laser hair removal with light skin and dark, course hair. I still have some very minor fine hair in the bikini area and a little hair in the underarms. I am still using the product to get rid of these last stubborn areas, but the overall result is very nice and trouble free. The biggest complaint I have is against the quality of the product. My first laser I bought...

IPL Works Below the Skin's Surface

IPL is very similar to laser hair removal. Light energy works below the skin's surface to target the dark coloring in hair, gently heating it and disrupting the growth cycle. Results appear within a few weeks of initial treatment and should improve over time.

ProPulse Technology Produces Exceptional Results
Remington IPL6000 i-LIGHT Pro, Professional IPL Hair Removal System Product Shot

Only i-LIGHT Pro has ProPulse Technology with output parameters comparable to the best clinical machines and delivers results that last six months.* ProPulse effectively targets hair follicles to disable growth by putting out energy at optimal wavelengths, delivering energy deep into the skin to target the hair bulb while enabling the surrounding tissue to cool.

i-LIGHT Pro is Simple to Use

First, shave the desired area to allow the most direct path to the hair follicle. Second, test the skin in the treatment area to ensure it is not too dark to treat. Lastly, treat the area according to directions in the Use and Care Guide. Perform three treatments every two weeks initially and then only as needed. Each 1,500-flash cartridge can deliver two to three full body treatments (underarms, lower legs, bikini area).

OMG. So. Excited.
Update 12/12/2011: My second treatment was this weekend and I can definitively say I have fewer hairs growing back today than I would normally. I last shaved on Thursday (today is Monday) and usually my legs would already be covered in noticeable stubble, so I think it's actually working. I'd post pictures here if I could! I have small patches of leg that have no hair, and the hairy patches (ick) are less.. thick.. dense?.. than they should be.One thing to know that is difficult about the device is the window is smaller than the treatment head, so it's hard to see what patches are overlapping and which aren't. I imagine this will make for initially patchy results, but it's easy to go back and spot treat. More updates to come. __________________________________________________________________________________ I certainly hope the hair removal industry is ready, because they are going DOWN! Super excited to be an early-adopter of one of these devices...
Manscaper
I absolutely love this device! I just completed my second treatment cycle yesterday but I will say that after one treatment I had definitely noticed less growth. Of course, I have only used it in spot areas that I normally trim. The i-Light is extremely easy to use and quite painless although I only used it on the lowest setting. I do think that it's important to shave or trim as close as possible because it seems more painful if the area has more hair. I think this product is perfect for the guys too. I will still trim areas but it's ingenious for the spot treatments! Buy it for your man!!!
Not sure
The item is easy to use. I am not really hairy (but light skin, dark hair) and I tried once a salon IL treatment. It was stronger there and hair left in a week or so, almost all that was treated (but it grew back fast as well). After this one, it takes about two weeks, in my case, for hair to leave but it does leave. After two weeks I have -- underarms about half hair gone, bikini area maybe just 20%. I think after third lower legs and underarm may be hairless (but probably totally hairless after 4-5 times), bikini will take definitely more than 3 times.I will keep you posted after completing the full three treatment procedure.

Got coarse hair? This is for you!
I just don't know how I got along before I got this thing. I wish I had gotten it years ago....it would have saved me SO MUCH time! I have very dark, coarse hair, and I have always manually tweezed unwanted facial hair. It was very time consuming, and I always felt like I was fighting a losing battle, because I just couldn't keep up, and it would grow faster than I could pluck! :-) Then I got this, and it was so incredibly FAST and THOROUGH! Even when I plucked, I'd miss all the little hairs. This thing gets 'em all! I'm not sure how it works on fine-haired people, but it's GREAT for me! **Special note...Epilators and auto-tweezers such as these are much less painful for you IF and ONLY IF you are used to plucking & waxing to begin with. If you are a newbie to the world of hair-removal, then I'm afraid there's no getting around it hurting, until you get used to it. If the process of hair-removal is old-hat for you, then your skin will be used to it, and you will be VERY...
Great little travel size to take with you
I initially bought two of these: one for my face and one for my underarms. I was a little concerned because this took a battery, however the battery last really long, so you don't need to go through a lot. First the face: I can't really tell if it's working on the very fine hair on my face because I have noticed that sometimes this just cuts the hair rather then pull it out (too thin to grab?). It's a little sore to use on sensitive places like the face, but still much more comfortable then wax or other epilators I have tried. Because it does sting a little, I am assuming that it is pulling the hair out, but the hairs are too fine to actually see if it got the bulb/root and all. Also, some of the hair seems to be back within days so I know those are the ones that have only been cut. But majority of my face stays hair free for weeks!! For the underarms: Works WONDERFULLY!! Because the hair under the arm is a little thicker, the Epi Slim Compact...

I've been having waxing for removal of facial hair and this is much better and I can do it myself. The directions are easy to follow and it's easy to clean. It will pay for itself as I no longer have to pay for waxing. The older I get, the less hair I have on my legs and more on my face. This helps me to feel more confident without wondering if someone can see the ugly facial hairs. Thanks.

What Is Laser Hair Removal? |

Laser hair removal is consider as one of the permanent ways of removing unwanted hair. If you have been using other temporary methods such as waxing or shaving, it may be good to switch to laser hair removal if you wish to have permanent results. It is best that you know the basic things such as the procedure and care tips about laser hair removal before you undergo this treatment.

Laser hair removal is not applicable to all types of hair and skin. People with light skin and coarse dark hair often have the best results with this method. This procedure generally targets pigmented tissue, so it doesn’t work well on blond, grey, white and red hair.

The most common areas where laser hair removal frequently used are the legs, arms, chest, back, around the lips, bikini line and armpits. This method requires more time and it is costly especially when applied on larger areas of the body. It usually takes 6 to 8 sessions to fully remove the unwanted hair on an area. This will also depend on the hair and skin color, and size of the area....
