Glycolic acid works as an exfoliating agent because of its high acidity but easy solubility. When placed on the skin as part of an exfoliating cream or gel, glycolic acid goes under the damaged upper layers of skin and destroys the 'glue', which holds dead skin to the surface. As this dead skin is chemically burned off, the other ingredients carry the individual flakes away and a water rinse neutralizes the remaining acid. Great productI am a 56 yr old woman with alot of sun damage ( uneven skin tone and quite a few age spots )After just one use i could see a differance in the skin tone and slight fading of my age spots and even improved my few wrinkles, showing to be less apparent. I have just used again and have to wait for about seven days to see the results but after seeing how it worked after just one time i am sure my skin will look even better. The only reason i rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is because i will need to see the final results before i can give a truthful statement.All and all this product does work but to be very carefull when applying is very strong. I tried this 5 weeks ago. I ordered the 70% but do NOT have sensitive skin, and have had chemical peels before. DO NOT START AT 70.I have attached a before and after picture. The first two weeks I applied every three days for 3 mins. Now I apply once a week for 5 mins.The first two weeks it burned like crap when it was on, I used a blowdryer on cool setting to help deal.. but it was painful. However, it was well worth it. I had some serious flakey/dry skin the first week or so.It was nothing a puff buff couldn't handle. Nothing bad just some tenderness for a day or so. I started to use bio-oil to moisturize afterwards and it works great. I did use a baking soda water mix to neutralize the solution after each peel. Some people don't use a neutralizer but I like it, it feels great it bubbles up, then I simply rinse away and follow with my Bio-Oil.After 5 weeks and about 8 treatments, my acne is almost gone. I still suffer my awful acne. I spent so much money going to "face doctors" with no relief in sight. Except pills, that make me fat, and some pricey cream. So I ordered this. It's strong. So be aware. It works. Thank god. It also does a nice peel on your face. It will make your face dry a couple of days after but then it goes away. So if you suffer from acne or an aging face-this works.

So far, my expectations are exceeded!I was so excited to get this peel. I have really done significant research to find the best home peel. My dermatologist told me about 6 months ago that I would benefit from a Jessner's peel since it's a medium depth peel. I had asked for her advice as in my early thirties, I've experienced mild adult acne, acne scarring, mid-size pores, and fine wrinkles. However, all the local dermatologists including mine charged north of $100 per treatment. It just wasn't priority compared to other things until.... I found and decided on this product. Wonderful Results
I have been getting $100.00 chemical peels at the dermatologist several times a year. This peel gave me better results and I loved the exfoliating crystals that the seller sent as a sample. I would love to buy some of those! I am doing my peels at home from now on. Seriously if you can wash your own face and run a peice of gauze over it and use a fan you can do this peel. Make sure to follow the instructions exactly and I would do a patch test first if you have never had a peel before. So I was paying $600.00 a year for 6 chemical peels and this bottle for $27.99 has enough for 6 peels if not more. That is a savings of $572.04 a year!!!
Great Jessner Peel!
I bought the Jessner peel, this was my first at-home peel. I have been paying $395 per laser peel at the derm office. This peel is great! I had deep exfoliation and it removed the sun spots that I had on my cheek. The peel is very easy and you can make the peel as deep as you want by applying more coats of the peel. I'm very pleased!

Review from African-AmericanI am writing this review because I have hardly seen any reviews from African-Americans using TCA peels and it was very frustrating for me. I bought this product blindly and through desperation. I have had discoloration on my face for as long as I remember. My nose and forehead is several shades lighter than the rest of my face. This has made me very self conscious about my appearance. I have tried everything I could think of. NOTHING has worked for me to lighten my skin. I started to research chemical peels. I bought glycolic acid (70%). It didn't peel my skin, but It did make some acne go away. That's really all it did, I was a bit disappointed. I started to research TCA peels and saw that people with dark skin shouldn't use it. I did anyway and boy am I glad I did! I did my peel on a Wednesday night. Not for everyone...
This product does what it claims. That being said, for those of you wanting a more youthful appearance, please be forewarned that these types of treatments are not for the faint at heart. You can damage your skin if you don't take care in what you are doing. If you have never indulged in this type of treatment I strongly suggest you start with a lower strength (preferably 12%) to experience your skin's worthiness to the peel's strength. Better safe than sorry...this is one place where more is not better...be patient. Follow the instructions and also review other blogs pertaining to others who have used treatments of this type. I accomplished what I was looking forward to and that was eliminating dark spots and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles through a scheduled maintenance plan.
Better than expected!
I had to share my experience because I was so surprised at how strong this product is! I had a peel done at a medical spa last year for eight-hundred dollars. I was excited, and for that price, was sorely disappointed. The doc was supposed to do the peel, but instead her two technicians performed it, and honestly, it is so easy to do, a monkey could do it. I guess they had difficulty getting me to "frost", because they had to do many layers, and told me I must have "thick skin". The stuff smelled like lighter fluid gone bad, face kind of felt like they lit the lighter fluid for a few minutes, and then the pain went away. They slathered me in Aquaphor, and told me to keep it that way for a few days. Anyway, I was told my skin would crack, and major peeling would go on, could not lay on my side for two nights in case my skin stuck to the pillow,on and on.
