Save your money
I create my own soaps, creams and lotions from scratch using quality ingredients. I currently do not have a source of information on lotions and such and thought this ebook might help further my skills. It did not and because its an electronic book I can't return it. In my opionion this book is not good for even a serious hobbiest! It uses pre made bases or products (Suave shampoo) that you just add a few things to and call it good. Not good enough for me and not worth $10. If you are looking for the most elementary information then this might be for you.

I Love All of Mabel White's Books
101 Melt and Pour Soap Recipes and Techniques Book, The Bathroom Chemist, and Mabel White's Christmas. In this book, Mabel writes about making your own skin care products. I actually like this book the most. It's quite fun to try to make my own facial cleanser. I've been using Clean & Clear for a while now, and want to make my own. This book is all around fun...gives you something to do, like a side hobby. Instructions are clear.

Incredible Book, Incredible Results
I've been trying to learn to make my own health and beauty supplies for a while now especially since I was downsized at my place of work. Making your own soaps, essential oils, lotions, and hair products is a great way to save money and grasp control of the chemicals you allow to touch your skin. When you make your own bathroom supplies, you don't need to worry if what you're putting on your face is safe or not because you, not some faceless company, have made them. This book was a godsend. I have bought several books in order to learn how to make my own health and beauty supplies but none are written in such a clear and concise manner as is this book. The instructions Mabel White gives in this book are easy to follow and they all include a large degree of freedom when it comes to customizing the items you are making. The book includes a great number of recipes which become infinite when you take into account that each one can be customized in any way you please. After finding this...

Once you go Burt's, you never go back!
This is the real deal! I tried them all and then decided to shell out an extra 50 cents to try Burt's original. It has a cool, refreshing peppermint-ish kick that cools your lips and moisturizes. I will never go back or even bother tying any other kinds of lip balm now. This is indeed the best! Amazons under $10 for 4 is better than Walmart by a couple bucks so you might as well get them here. I don't however, like any other of their varieties because they don't refresh your lips anywhere near as well as the original formula does.

A favorite of many, but some downsides to be aware of
Burt's Bees makes good natural body products, and this balm is natural-- mostly beeswax, with sunflower seed oil, mint, vitamin e, lanolin, rosemary, glycerin and canola oil. It goes on rather thick and pasty, and tastes of mint. However, it does not heal the cracks in my lips due to the slightly irritating nature of mint oil (for me) and because I'm slightly sensitive to lanolin, like many people. I find this is not very helpful for my chapped lips, and I prefer other brands. The good thing about this balm is that it stays on and if you are out in the cold, it provides a protective layer due to the beeswax. Many people like this balm, especially men, but I find I'm a bit sensitive to it and it doesn't work well for me.

Not for everyone
My co-worker recommended Burt's, and practically every reviewer loves this balm, but it actually seemed to make my lips worse. This seemed to dry out my lips; my lips peeled a lot more when I used this, and I've tried many lip balms! This and SoftLips are two balms I would never buy, because they just don't work well with my body chemistry. My boyfriend, who's very frugal, bought this even though he could buy cheap 50 cents generic balm, because he likes it that much. That coming from a guy who usually doesn't care if his lips are dry. So I would say it works great for many people, just not me.
