Salon Laser Hair Removal versus Tria
The primary difference I have found so far is the size of the treatment head. The tria has a very small treatment head (maybe a 1/4 inch circle). This is fine for small areas, but a bit tedious for larger areas. I have been getting laser hair removal at medical spas for years and I am familiar with the technology behind tria. It is a pulsed diode laser (superior to pulsed light i.e. "silk-n"). It does work for hair removal on pale skin and black (or near black) hair. If your hair is not black, it won't work as well. If your skin is not pale, it won't work as well and will be more painful. Dark melanin absorbs near-infrared radiation from the laser and creates heat. This is how Tria works. It flashes near-infrared radiation into your skin, the black hairs absorb the light and heat up, frying the follicle. The answer for girls with embarassing hair
I've been using the Tria for almost a year now, and it's exceeded my expectations. I have polycystic ovaries, and, therefore, dark hair where girls aren't 'supposed to.' I shave my face, chest and arms every day. This used to be completely traumatic- painful and time-consuming. I still shave after a year of use, but the hair is so greatly reduced that it's no longer a huge deal. So am I lasering the same hairs, or new hairs- is the Tria killing hairs or just weakening them? I don't know, and frankly, I don't really care. I used the laser a few times per week for the first 3 or 4 months- I have so many areas to manage, I would just use it as I watched TV. I have used it on my face once per week for 11 months. My use on the rest of my body got more infrequent as time went on, but there's a huge reduction in hair on all areas mentioned- 80-90%, I would say. Good product
I purchased this system in Feb 2010 and did not want to write a review until I had thoroughly used it. The purpose for which I purchased it was to remove hair in the bikini line and underarm area. I have been faithfully using it every 2 weeks from Feb 2010 until the end of Nov 2010. The instructions for the machine tell you to use it every 2 weeks for the first 3 months and only once a month afteward up to 8 months for maximum results. I wanted to be sure that I got the best results so I used it every 2 weeks the whole 9 months. I have to say that I am impressed with the product overall. I am a prime candidate for laser hair removal with light skin and dark, course hair. I still have some very minor fine hair in the bikini area and a little hair in the underarms. I am still using the product to get rid of these last stubborn areas, but the overall result is very nice and trouble free. The biggest complaint I have is against the quality of the product. Brilliant
At my first brazillian wax, I was in such pain that I literally could not complete the service. I ached for a long time after, and though no blood was drawn, i was terrified for years. Thanks to this creme, however, my next attempt went smoothly. I almost felt nothing at all, not even the slight pinching sensation people tell you to expect. It was easy, it was excellent. However, I did let the product sit for 45 minutes before the waxing began, and I absolutely doused myself in it, probably a quarter or third of the tube, as I was very paranoid. Later uses with less amounts of the creme did not seem to dilute it's numbing effect, though.

Be careful with your money!
After much research on the internet, and reading some positive reviews, I was very excited to try this product. Well, it didn't work for me. I used the highest setting for four to five treatments and noticed absolutely no change. I called the company to verify I was using the product properly and I was. Since I was approaching the refund time frame, I was getting concerned I was wasting my money on a product that does not work. So, I contacted the company and after several phone calls/emails they finally gave me an RMA to send to send it back for a return. (It was still in the time frame for returns and I had all of the packaging it came with, so I was still eligible for a return.) Three weeks later, they still have not refunded me. First they tried to tell me that my package never arrived, but fortunately I had a delivery confirmation to prove that it did. Works wonderful. Hardly need to shave anymore.
I have light skin and medium to dark brown hair. Most of my hair is thin (except my bikini line.) I've been doing treatments for nearly 6 months with great results. I use it on my face (sideburns, upper lip, and chin) my arms, bikini line, and underarms. I've had the best results with the hair on my arms. After one treatment only about 5% of the hair grew back. After 4 treatments I only see a couple of strays that have grown back. The hair on my face has taken many more treatments (about 10), but the re-growth is only about 20% at this point. One of my underarms is not growing any hair back (10 treatments). My bikini line is down to about 50% regrowth with 7 treatments I think. All of the hair I have treated either doesn't grow back or grows back thinner. I also get much less ingrown hairs and irritation when shaving. Results are different for different people, but you have to be patient and follow the treatment schedule as they recommend. Don't expect overnight results. If you...

I have never left a review for any product before but I had to write one on this product. I have used this for about 6 months now and I was logging on to buy my first replacement cartridge. I'm a man (I know, not very masculine LOL) and I by no means use this on my entire body. That is probably why my first cartridge lasted so long. The first thing I have to say is THIS WORKS! The thing is you need a little bit of patients. You probably wont see any real results until your 3rd treatment but it is very noticeable. I have used this product once every two weeks from the day I got it. Now 6 months later, I can count the amount of hairs I have left in my treatment area. The only reason I am buying a replacement cartridge is so I can get rid of those last few pesky hairs. Honestly, I probably don't even need another cartridge.
